Introduction
For those who doesn’t know what is non-linear storytelling is, non-linear storytelling is a technique used for narrators some kind of story, but instead of going the usual way like beginning, middle, end. It goes around in time breaking any sense of a timeline and when this kind of narrating is combined with a plot twist, it makes the perfect movie, in this list i will mention some that have both, or have only one, and the list isn’t order, the numbers is just for counting.
Keep in mind that i haven’t watched some of these movies, but i recommend it maybe because i saw a part of it, or i heard positive reviews about it and whenever i watch them, i will drop an update here in the blog.
Main Content
- Pulp Fiction 1994 film by Quentin Tarantino
This movie I have watched, and it has the non-linear storytelling feature, and some consider it without any plot twist, but for me it does have a plot twist, not the greatest but it has, the movie talks mainly about three timelines, you begin the movie asking your self what the hell am I watching, and when the three timelines just connects you can’t do anything but to clap, I like the way the Quentin Tarantino tell his story and you will enjoy this movie a lot.
- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 2004 film by Michel Gondry
I have also watched this movie, the type of storytelling here isn’t just non-linear, it is a type I like to call memory-fragments, this movie uses pieces of memory to tell the story of a man who fall in love with a women, adding the twist that now he broke up, and since he can’t forget here he goes to some kind of agency, that helps him to remove all her memories from his mind. It worth checking out.
- Oldboy 2003 film by Park Chan-wook
I have enjoyed watching this movie, although it was painful watching experience because of the plot twist, the movie talks about a father that suddenly disappears, someone kidnapped him for years, and now he is free, he doesn’t know who did that, and why he kidnapped him for all this years, and now he is searching for his daughter, the movie combines the non-linear storytelling with the greatest plot twist that you will ever see in your life, but I wouldn’t recommend it for any light heart people or any one below 15.
- 500 Days Of Summer 2009 film directed by Marc Webb
This is movie is super chill, it has the non-linear storytelling, but without any plot twist, it tells the story of a couple, and how the broke up, and moved on in the end, this movie have been my favorite but now I realize why toxic, anyways nothing big just a movie when you want to disconnect your brain a little bit.
- Knifes Out 2019 film directed by Rian Johnson
If you like Sherlock Holmes, and any detective stories this is what I recommend, this movie combines between non-linear storytelling and plot twist providing a solid story to enjoy, and with each re watch you discover new things, and there is a sequel of this movie called Glass Onion: A Knifes Out Mystery, but I can’t recommend cause I didn’t watch yet, but if you had drop your review in my email.
- Fight Club 1999 film by David Fincher
This movie is a master piece, every one recommends, and there are tons of reviews out there, I won’t talk a lot about it, but you must watch if you haven’t yet, it has non-linear storytelling and a solid maybe number two after Oldboy plot twist.
- Inception 2010 film by Christopher Nolan
Inception is also another masterpiece by Christopher Nolan, I don’t know yet how to review it or to explain it, because my level of understating didn’t just meet the level of explaining. You will need maybe a notebook (I’m kidding), when watching this movie, cause the type of non-linear storytelling just went to another level, the timelines at the end of the movie feel like scrambled eggs.
- A Beautiful Mind 2001 film by Ron Howard
A Beautiful Mind is another movie, or that what would you say, it is a movie that have a plot twist, it is the same of Sorry For Disturbance (2008), but I prefer Sorry For Disturbance, it is a great movie to check out so enjoy.
- The Prestige 2006 film by Christopher Nolan
Another banger from Christopher Nolan, but this time it is not as complex as Inception, but it is a great movie to watch, I haven’t watch yet, but I saw a couple of scenes and heard lots of positive reviews about it, so if you had drop your thoughts.
- Memento 2000 film by Christopher Nolan
I know there are lots of Christopher Nolan, movies here, but this man is wild, he makes top tier of plot twist movies, I have only watched half of the movie, and the only thing I could say is Wow! I will drop my full review here soon, but for now I recommend watching.
- The Usual Suspects 1995 film by Bryan Singer
I haven’t watched this movie yet, but I saw a lot of reviews, I am planning to watch it very soon, it talks about suspects in a crime, someone is guilty, who knows, the movie is a classic to watch I recommend It a lot.
Conclusion
And will that is it, I hope you enjoy your time with these movies, if you got any question, all the social media are down there, goodbye.
